Stephen Colbert Runs Supercut of Fox Hosts Freaking Out Over Kamala Harris Position on Plastic Straws: ‘A Major Liability’ For Her Campaign

The Late Show host Stephen Colbert played a compilation of Fox News hosts and guests freaking out over Vice President Kamala Harris’ opposition to plastic straws on Wednesday.

“Even Fox News is having trouble coming up with a good attack line against Harris. So far, this is the best they’ve got,” said Colbert on his show, before playing a series of clips of Fox News personalities railing against Harris for allegedly wanting to ban plastic straws.

“You know, a major liability for Kamala Harris. She wants to ban plastic straws,” said Fox News anchor Steve Doocy this week, while Fox News host Sean Hannity protested, “She wants to ban plastic straws? I love my plastic straws! I hate those paper straws!”

Fox Business guest Mitch Roschelle also brought up Harris’ plastic straw record on Tuesday, telling the network’s viewers, “Don’t forget, Kamala Harris is against plastic straws, so you don’t have to look beyond that as an economic policy.”

“That’s the best you’ve got?” reacted Colbert. “Really seems like you’re grasping at something. I don’t what exactly. Although, when you think about it, it does make sense that Fox News would be obsessed with straws. After all, they suck!”

Fox News hosts have repeatedly attacked environmentalists for expressing opposition to plastic straws in recent years.

In 2019, Fox News host Laura Ingraham even tried to drink a steak through a plastic straw in an attempt to “trigger” liberals.

“Mmm. Tastes good,” she said as she sucked the meat through the straw.
