He Wants to WHAT? Cleveland Guardians Announcer Makes Absolutely Insane Call After Team Allows Home Run

Cleveland Guardians announcer Rick Manning provided one of the most awkward home run calls you’ll ever hear on a professional broadcast.

In the sixth inning of the Guardians’ Tuesday game against the Chicago Cubs, Guardians outfielder Jhonkensy Noel hit a two-run homer off of relief pitcher Drew Smyly. That home run would eventually prove to be the game winner, as the 2-1 lead the Guardians took ended up being the final score.

Seconds after the broadcast showed a dejected Smyly on the mound, Manning had an interesting way of expressing how the pitcher was feeling.

“Oh, Smyly, he wants to kill himself,” Manning said. “He hung him a breaking ball; and boy, Noel took advantage of it.”

The call caused quite a stir on social media, with many taken aback by Manning actually saying that live on air.

Considering it was the play that won the team the game, it was inevitably going to be posted on the team’s official social media channels. Fortunately for the Guardians, there was an easy workaround: using the audio from a different broadcast.
