OUCH! Stephen A. Smith Praises a Knicks Player for His Recent Performance — Not Realizing He’s Been Off the Team for Months
Stephen A. Smith had strong praise for a New York Knicks player after the team’s recent win. The only problem is that player was traded away months ago.
On Monday’s episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, Smith looked ahead at the Knicks’ chances of contending in the Eastern Conference playoffs. When listing a few names that have apparently caught his eye in recent games, Smith named guard Quentin Grimes.
“I’m looking at Grimes,” Smith said. “He’s looked good!
“I’m looking at [center] Isaiah Hartenstein as a reserve, giving you activity off the bench.”
Both statements, as fans pointed out online, were either inaccurate or flat-out wrong.
Grimes, for example, was traded to the Detroit Pistons just before the trade deadline in February. He hasn’t worn a Knicks uniform in over two months.
Though Hartenstein began the season in a reserve role, he became a starter for the team in December. In fact, he’s started in 46 of the 72 games he’s played so far this season. He hasn’t been a bench player in almost four months.
This is so wrong I thought it was fake. AI generated or something. https://t.co/qkqDPSl5yg

We need to keep in mind that in this clip, he says that he likes what Isaiah Hartenstein is bringing off the bench. Hartenstein has been the Knicks’ starting center SINCE DECEMBER. And it’s not even the most noteworthy thing he says in this clip that’s inaccurate. https://t.co/kvZXXrY25e

Grimes has been in Detroit since February and Hartenstein has been starting since even before. Again people just need to stop listening to this guy. https://t.co/kj1VhnF2Fu
