Ex-Trump Press Secretary to Address DNC, Says She Must Speak Out About ‘The Threat He Poses To Our Country’

Former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham will speak at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday. Grisham, who endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as part of the campaign’s “Republicans for Harris” initiative, has long been a fierce critic of her former boss – following her resignation after the Jan. 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“I never thought I’d be speaking at a Democratic convention. But, after seeing firsthand who Donald Trump really is, and the threat he poses to our country, I feel very strongly about speaking out,” Grisham said in a statement to NBC News, which broke the news of Grisham speaking at the DNC.

“While I don’t agree with Vice President Harris on everything, I am proud to be supporting her because I know she will defend our freedoms and represent our nation with honesty and integrity,” Grisham added in her statement.

The Harris campaign also released a statement, saying, “While Donald Trump continues to attack moderates and independents, the Harris-Walz campaign has made clear that there is a place in our coalition for voters who reject the extremism of Donald Trump and want to protect our democracy.”

Other “Republicans for Harris” members are expected to speak at the DNC, including ex-Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and the former Lt. Gov. of Georgia Geoff Duncan.

Ex-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) has yet to join the movement, but a source told NBC News in early August that Cheney “will eventually endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.”

“The source also said they suggested that the Harris campaign courted the endorsement of former Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020. Neither Cheney nor Flake had made a 2024 endorsement before Biden bowed out of the race,” noted NBC News at the time.
