‘She Failed Miserably’: James Comer Blames Border Crisis On Kamala Harris During Interview With Trey Gowdy

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) went after Vice President Kamala Harris over the influx of migrants at the southern border under the Biden administration.

During an interview on Sunday with Trey Gowdy, Comer blasted the vice president claiming that she was “in charge” of the border. He added that the border was the only thing President Joe Biden “ever put her in charge of” and “she failed miserably.”

Since announcing her candidacy, Donald Trump and his Republican allies have attacked Harris by suggesting she was the “border czar” back in 2021 as an influx of migrants began to cross the Mexico border. Harris was never officially given the role of border czar.

Comer went on to say that he will use the House Oversight Committee to investigate the administration’s handling of the border.

GOWDY: Mr. chairman, she denies being put in charge of the border, but Biden made it clear he asked her to lead the effort. So did she declined his invitation or just simply failed at the task?

COMER: She looked to me in the video to be pretty satisfied that he finally put her in charge or something. In fact, that’s the only thing that I can remember that President Biden ever put her in charge of during the whole first term of the Biden-Harris administration. So she failed miserably at the border. If she was in charge of trying to subdue border crossings from certain countries, there’s no evidence that she did anything other than invite more people to come across the border. When you make it clear that you’re not going to prosecute anyone for violating the law for illegally crossing our border — that’s an open invitation to cross our border. And that’s what’s happened under Kamala Harris. And one thing that we’re trying to find out on the Oversight Committee is the cost of this. You know, this has had a huge impact on Medicaid because many of these people when they cross the border they get free health care. That’s what Medicaid is — it’s free health care. They get transported all over the United States. We’ve had mayors and local officials in many states that have contacted us and said at 2 or 3 in the morning a plane lands and unloads all these illegals into their community. That costs money. It costs money on the public school systems for these kids to be stuck in public schools that are already behind when they get here. So we want to know the cost, and we want to know exactly what Kamala Harris did other than basically send an open invitation to the world to illegally cross our border.
