Donald Trump’s posts to Truth Social since his fiery appearance at a National Association of Black Journalists event suggest he is doubling down on his comments about Vice President Kamala Harris’s race.

Trump received backlash for a number of comments made on Wednesday at the Chicago event, but his claim that Harris “turned Black” has arguably gotten the most attention. The White House condemned Trump’s statement within a matter of minutes, and conservatives like Bill O’Reilly and others have offered scathing reviews of Trump’s appearance.

“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black,” he said. “So I don’t know, is she Indian, or is she Black? I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn, she went — she became Black. Somebody should look into that.”

Harris is biracial. Her father is from Jamaica and her mother is from India.

On Truth Social, Trump continued to suggest Harris can only be Indian or Black. He posted a 2019 video of Harris discussing her Indian heritage with filmmaker Mindy Kaling.

“Crazy Kamala is saying she’s Indian, not Black. This is a big deal. Stone cold phony. She uses everybody, including her racial identity!” the former president wrote.

In the short clip, Harris specifically refers to be biracial when she tells Kaling that she looks “exactly” like “one half” of her family.

In another post, Trump shared a family photo of Harris with Indian family members, doubling down again on his controversial statement from the Chicago event.

“Thank you Kamala for the nice picture you sent from many years ago! Your warmth, friendship, and love of your Indian Heritage are very much appreciated,” he wrote.
