Melania Trump Speaks Out on Shooting of her Husband: ‘The Fabric’ of America is ‘Tattered’
Melania Trump has issued a statement following the shooting of her husband, former President Donald Trump, at a rally in Butler, PA Saturday.
In comments posted to X/Twitter, the former First Lady sounded a note of unity — calling for the nation to come together.
“America, the fabric of our gentle nation is tattered,” Melania Trump wrote. “But our courage and common sense must ascend and bring us back together as one.
The former First Lady denounced the shooter as a “monster” and lauded her husband as a “generous and caring man.”
“A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion – his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration,” she said. “The core facets of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times.”
Melania Trump is expected to appear at this week’s Republican National Convention — a rare public appearance on the campaign trail.
