Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump raged over the coverage of his interview with Elon Musk on Tuesday, one day after their glitch-filled conversation took place on X.
“I spent 2 1/2 hours last night talking to Elon, a fantastic guy, getting all-time record Views/hits, and all the Fake News wants to report is that the servers crashed (because of the tremendous volume!), and the show opened a little late,” wrote Trump on Truth Social. “What they should be reporting was the incredible number of people that were listening. I absolutely HATE the Fake News Media. So bad for our Country!”
Musk hosted Trump for a discussion on his platform a few weeks after officially endorsing Trump and pledging to donate vast sums of money to his campaign, but the virtual event was impeded by technical glitches that Musk attributed to a DDOS attack, though such an attack has not yet been independently verified.
The struggle to get the conversation up and running drew parallels to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign kick-off with Musk on X last year.
Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign capitalized on the technical difficulties on Monday night by releasing a statement about the Musk-Trump interview insisting that “Donald Trump’s extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is a feature not a glitch of his campaign, which was on full display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight during whatever that was on X.com.”
“Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself – self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,” it continued.
Harris, meanwhile, has not yet agreed to an interview since becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee for president (she has since become the official nominee) a little less than a month ago.
