Trump Recalls How ‘Illegal Immigration Saved My Life’ in Elon Musk Interview
Former President Donald Trump recalled how illegal immigration “saved” his life during an interview with billionaire Elon Musk on Monday.
After experiencing technical difficulties which prevented users from tuning into the interview for around an hour, the issues were eventually fixed, allowing the interview to go forward.
During a discussion about the attempt on Trump’s life last month, Musk noted that the former president was saved from a bullet to the head after he turned to look at a slide on illegal immigration.
“Speaking of the sort of slide that got you to turn, that saved your life really, was the illegal immigration slide,” said Musk. “That slide saved your life.”
Trump replied jokingly, “Illegal immigration saved my life, you’re right.”
“That’s a great one. Saved by illegal immigration,” remarked Musk.
A few minutes later, Trump added, “I’m gonna sleep with that chart always. I’ll be sleeping with that chart. That chart was very important.”
On the bullet which hit his ear, Trump said, “I knew immediately that it was a bullet. I knew immediately that it was at the ear.”
He continued, “We had bullets flying right over my head after I went down, so I’m glad I went down. The bigger miracle was that I was looking in the exact direction of the shooter, so it hit me at an angle that was far less destructive than any other angle, so that was the miracle. For those people that don’t believe in God, I think we’ve got to all start thinking about that.”
Trump concluded, “I’m a believer, now I’m more of a believer… If I hadn’t turned my head, I would not be talking to you right now. As much as I like you, I would not.”
