Nikki Haley celebrated Ron DeSantis’ exit from the 2024 Republican primary — breaking the news to her supporters during a campaign event.
The former South Carolina governor was in Seabrook, New Hampshire on Sunday to gin up support ahead of the state’s primary vote on Tuesday. Now that the governor of Florida has confirmed the suspension of his 2024 campaign, Haley delightedly informed her attendees that the Republican primary is now down to her and Donald Trump.
“We just heard that Ron DeSantis has dropped out the race,” she announced to applause. “I want to say to Ron, he ran a great race. He’s been a good governor, and we wish him well.
“Having said that, it’s now one fella and one lady left!”
As DeSantis and Haley competed with each other to be Trump’s main rival for the GOP nomination, the two have gone after each other in brutal fashion while waiting for the field to narrow. DeSantis threw a parting shot at Haley in the video statement where he confirmed his campaign suspension and endorsed the former president for 2024.
