Fox News Contributor Tomi Lahren was not particularly sympathetic to WNBA star Brittney Griner after she was sentenced to nine years in Russian prison on Thursday morning for drug possession charges.

Following an emotional plea in court, Griner was sentenced to more than nine years in jail after pleading guilty to the charges last month. Griner has been detained in Russia since February after authorities found 0.7 grams of cannabis oil in her luggage upon arrival to the country.

Shortly after the sentencing, President Joe Biden released a statement from the White House, demanding Griner’s release immediately. The WNBA also released a statement condemning the basketball star’s sentencing.

Once the news broke about Griner’s sentence, Lahren tweeted that Griner’s conviction is a “cautionary tale.”

Lahren continued to argue that this is the consequence of thinking that America is “oppressive,” then finding out what “No justice looks like.”

“Too bad too sad,” she concluded sarcastically.

On Friday, Lahren took to Twitter once again to mock Griner’s current position noting that at least the WNBA star “won’t have to endure our National Anthem for 9 whole years!”

“What a win for her!” remarked Lahren.

The conservative media commentator has recently moved from Fox Nation to Clay Travis’s sports website, Outkick. Previously, Lahren hosted several shows on the Fox News streaming platform and has moved on to host her own show Fearless, which airs three nights a week on Outkick’s Youtube Channel.
