What The? RNC Website Mistakenly Publishes Photo of Vietnamese City Meant to Be Milwaukee

The Republican National Convention (RNC) updated its website on Tuesday after social media users discovered they were using a photo of Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City instead of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The RNC, which is scheduled to take place in Milwaukee next month, had mistakenly used the photo of the Vietnamese city since at least February before it was made aware of the blunder this week, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Was on the 2024 GOP convention website and saw it used a background image that… does not look like Milwaukee. Which makes sense because it’s actually a photo of Ho Chi Minh City. pic.twitter.com/EoC92NOTcd

Update: the 2024 GOP convention’s “news and updates” page now has an image of host city Milwaukee, not Ho Chi Minh City.

The image has since been replaced with a photo of Milwaukee instead.
In a statement, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd mocked, “Maybe if Donald Trump and the RNC actually bothered to have a real campaign operation in Wisconsin, they could tell the difference between Milwaukee and Ho Chi Minh City.”
Wisconsin Democrats also took advantage of the blunder, creating a fake t-shirt design which read, “I attended 2024 RNC convention in Milwaukee, WI, USA Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.”

It is uncertain whether the photo of Ho Chi Minh City was merely a forgotten placeholder or a legitimate mistake as other photos on the website did correctly show the skyline of Milwaukee.
