MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Criticizes Biden: ‘I Can’t Really Tell You Right Now What the Second Term Biden Vision Looks Like’

MSNBC host Chris Hayes criticized President Joe Biden for failing to put forward a vision for a second term in the White House.

During an All In with Chris Hayes discussion on Wednesday about the effort to defeat former President Donald Trump in 2024, Hayes – a prominent Trump critic – said, “The other thing I think is really important for the Biden campaign is a vision of the future.”

He argued:

I could tell you the Biden 2020 platform. It was to get Covid under control. It was to then begin bringing the economy out of the depths through investment in the middle class, and through an infrastructure investment, and to rejoin Paris and invest in clean energy, and to restore our, you know, relationships. Yeah, that’s what they did. Like, they said they were going to do it and they did it. I can’t really tell you right now what the second term Biden vision looks like yet.

Hayes’ fellow MSNBC host Rachel Maddow replied, “I think it makes the State of the Union really important because I do think that it’s always in an election year kind of the kick-off of the incumbent president’s reelection campaign. Hearing the positive vision rather than the, ‘Here’s all the reasons you don’t want the Republicans back in the White House again.'”

“I think that’s what we’re going to get,” she concluded.
