MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Drops Everything From ‘B.S.’ to ‘Bullpucky’ to Blast Supreme Court Delaying Trump Trial

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow called the Supreme Court agreeing to hear arguments on the question of presidential immunity in the case of Donald Trump everything from “B.S.” to “bullpucky” in a Wednesday rant.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear arguments on presidential immunity in April in a case where Trump is facing criminal election interference charges related to his efforts to flip the 2020 presidential election results and his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The court’s decision to even hear the case has angered Trump critics as it further delays a trial.

According to their order, the court will decide “whether and, if so, to what extent does a former president enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office.”

Trump has denied wrongdoing against all of his criminal charges, and he’s also used a claim of blanket immunity to claim he can’t be prosecuted in the first place.

Maddow said the Supreme Court merely agreeing to hear the case shows their “cravenness.”

The MSNBC host denied that presidential immunity is an “open question,” arguing that Gerald Ford pardoning Richard Nixon for acts committed while in office puts an end to the debate.

She claimed the court, which has three judges appointed by Trump, is helping their “political friend” by taking up the case at all. Maddow even questioned the “future legitimacy” of the court in light of the judges agreeing to hear Trump’s arguments.

“The idea that this has to be taken up is them saying the sky is green, and I think even for the non-lawyers among us to be able to say, ‘you know what? The sky is not green even on our worst day,'” she said. “This is B.S. You are doing this as a dilatory tactic to help your political friend, your partisan patron and for you to say that this is something the court needs to decide because it’s something that’s unclear in the law is just flagrant, flagrant bullpucky and they know and they don’t care that we know it and that’s disturbing about the future legitimacy of the court.”
