Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sat down for an hour-long interview with none other than Dr. Phil McGraw, more popularly known as simply Dr. Phil.

In the lengthy exchange, aired Thursday, Netanyahu discussed his disagreements with President Joe Biden and vowed that Israel’s mission to eliminate Hamas will not stop even if they have to fight with their “fingernails.”

Netanyahu said he hopes he and Biden can “overcome” their differences, referring to Biden recently threatening to withhold a weapons shipment if Israel conducts an all out ground assault of Rafah. The president has backed Israel, but also raised alarms about the thousands of civilian casualties in Gaza caused by the country’s strikes.

“We often had our agreements, but we’ve had our disagreements. We’ve been able to overcome them. I hope we can overcome them now, but we will do what we have to do to protect our country,” Netanyahu told Dr. Phil.

Dr. Phil primarily focuses on people and explosive or unusual personalities for his therapy-themed talk show, but he has engaged more in politics as of late. He recently visited the U.S.-Mexico border and discussed the issue and what he saw with Joe Rogan.

The Israeli leader also blasted college campus protests in the United States where thousands of students have demanded a ceasefire and demonstrated against Israel’s conduct in the war.

“We’re not merely protecting ourselves, we are, but in so doing, we protect all of free civilization, all of western culture,” he said.

He acknowledged some responsibility for the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas where the terror group killed more than 1,000 and kidnapped hundreds more. Netanyahu said there needs to be a “thorough explanation” for the massive security failure.

“I think we’re going to have to give a thorough explanation. I think we’re going to have to have a thorough examination once the war ends of exactly what happened, how it happened, and who made it happen,” he said, stressing though that a “win” in the war is the only current priority.
