CNN’s Acosta Zings Pro-Trump Panelist Over Trump’s AI Taylor Swift Posts: ‘You’re Not Shaking This One Off’
CNN’s Jim Acosta needled a Republican panelist as he watched him attempt to explain Donald Trump posting fake AI images suggesting Taylor Swift had endorsed him.
“That’s obviously not true. She is in fact endorsing the Democrats very likely this time around,” Acosta said on Tuesday after showing the Truth Social posts.
“I think he says he’ll take the endorsement from the people,” CNN political commentator and former Trump campaign advisor David Urban said.
Acosta pointed out that one of the images of Swift reads, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.” Other images included fake fans wearing “Swifties for Trump” t-shirts. All but one of the images were AI-generated. Trump wrote, “I accept!” in response to the fake images.
“I’m not so sure who created that,” Urban responded.
“You’re not shaking this one off, David,” Acosta said.
“Somebody gave that to you. I know they did,” a laughing Urban said about the line.
The political strategist argued that a Swift endorsement won’t have the weight some think it will. The musician endorsed President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Trump has spoken about Swift in the past, calling her “unusually beautiful” and asking if her liberal politics are just an “act.”
“Swifties are not monolithic is my guess. They represent a wide swath of America. They’re red state, blue state people so I’m sure there’s a large group of Swifites who are Swifites for Trump,” he said.
“Maybe not so large. There’s probably one or two for Trump,” fellow political commentator Maria Cardona said.
