‘I Forgot That You Existed’: Ted Lieu Quotes Taylor Swift Lyrics In Spat With Ben Shapiro Over ‘Manufactured Enthusiasm’ For Harris

Representative Ted Lieu (D-CA) hit out at conservative commentator Ben Shapiro with Taylor Swift lyrics, declaring “everything has changed” in response to a viral clip in which Shapiro compared the “manufactured enthusiasm” from Democrats for presumptive nominee Kamala Harris to the popularity of Swift.

Shapiro appeared on Jesse Watters Primetime on Fox News on Tuesday night to criticize the excitement around Harris’ campaign and attacking her record, joking that he had not seen so much “manufactured enthusiasm for anyone outside of Taylor Swift’s last album.”

“It’s amazing,” he added, drawing laughter from host Jesse Watters.

As the clip was shared widely online late Tuesday, however, the California congressman weighed in to quote Swift song lyrics at Shapiro, including that he’d “forgot” that Shapiro “existed.”

Other Democrats also weighed in, including former President Barack Obama’s spokesman-turned-podcaster Tommy Vietor who reflected it was “hard to think of [a] worse example of someone with manufactured enthusiasm than Taylor Swift” given that her international “tour just grossed over a billion dollars.”
