Jon Stewart Has a Field Day Mocking GOP and Conservative Media’s Kamala Harris Attacks: Could You Be Any ‘Grosser?!’
Conservative media found itself in a new and challenging position when President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid, and Vice President Kamala Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee — and Jon Stewart delighted in pointing out how hard it was for conservative pundits to land an attack, at their expense.
During his monologue on The Daily Show on Monday, Stewart pointed out what many saw as sexist attacks made by several right-wing figures, including Megyn Kelly and Ben Shapiro. After playing clips with Kelly and Shapiro in which they accused Harris of sleeping her way into her position, Stewart asked: “Okay, Squeaks. Listen… I don’t know, guys. You’re being awfully subtle here. Isn’t there a grosser way you can say that?”
Cue the clip of Fox Business guest Alec Lace, in which he said: “Kamala Harris, she’s the original ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl. That’s the way she got where she is.” Stewart responded:
That’s what I’m talking about! That’s the kind of substantive and elevated take from a guy who looks like he’s one Mike’s Hard Lemonade away from getting in a fight at his sister’s wedding. You little tuft of hair — you’re not fooling anybody, Baldy! So sexist saying Kamala Harris slept her way to the top. Joe Biden and [former President] Donald Trump literally slept their way to the top and we never heard a fucking peep about it!
Of course, this was but one beat in a 17-minute segment, but is perfectly illustrative of the insane week of political news Americans have experienced in the last week since Stewart was last on air.
