Howard Stern lashed out against backlash to his interview with President Joe Biden last week, denying that he was fed any scripted questions and that Biden wore an earpiece.

Stern brought up the accusations days after his Biden interview, mentioning some critics thought his bringing up new rules forcing airlines to offer immediate refunds rather than credits for cancelled flights was something that came directly from the White House.

Stern specifically mentioned YouTuber and pundit David Pakman, who praised the interview but said the airline question seemed more likely to come from Biden’s team than Stern’s SiriusXM team.

Stern, who said he’s a fan of Pakman, claimed the airline question came from a conversation he had with producer Jon Hein.

“Here’s what happened. When Joe Biden came in, the day before John Hein and I were talking about some of the accomplishments that we admire that have gone on in the past four years, and John says to me, ‘hey, Howard, did you hear what Joe Biden did with the airlines?'” Stern said.

“If they were scripting the questions, wouldn’t that have been a lot different?” Stern co-host Robin Quivers said at one point.

“Oh yeah, but as far as the statement about the airline… cut the conspiracy theory,” he said.

Pakman responded to Stern bringing him up on the show by calling the interview “excellent” and saying he stands “corrected” on the airline question.

Stern also lashed out at social media conspiracies that Biden wore an earpiece during the hour-plus interview, not something Pakman claimed, insisting his crew controlled all of the audio.

“You’ve gotta fucking be kidding me! First of all, we controlled all the audio,” he said.

Stern also defended the interview against critics who claimed it was too soft and did not dive into policy enough.

“My whole goal was not to sit there and talk politics. I’m not into that. I don’t want to debate policy,” he claimed.

The longtime radio host said his “pitch” to the White House was for a more personal sit-down with the president.

“My only agenda [was] I would like to get to know the president because I suspect he’s a very meaningful, very thoughtful guy,” he said.

During the Stern interview, Biden touched on a number of subjects, both personal and political. He declared he’s “happy” to debate Donald Trump, accused the media of being too soft in their coverage of his likely November opponent, and emotionally detailed his last moments with his late son, Beau.
