‘I Gasped!’ CNN Anchor Stunned By Biden ‘Attacking’ Trump Over Stormy Daniels Trial In Debate Video
CNN anchor Sara Sidner said she “gasped” at President Joe Biden’s “attack” on ex-President Donald Trump in a video accepting Trump’s debate challenge.
On Wednesday morning, the president took to his campaign Twitter account to answer Trump’s recent declarations he’ll debate Biden “anytime, anywhere” in a video that included a reference to the Stormy Daniels hush money-election interference trial:
Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for debate.
Now he’s acting like he wants to debate me again. Well, make my day, pal!
I’ll even do it twice.
So let’s pick the dates. Donald.
I hear you’re free on Wednesdays.
That last line is a reference to the trial schedule, which recesses the proceedings every Wednesday and on weekends.
On Wednesday’s edition of CNN News Central, Sidner reacted to the jab with astonishment:
ARLETTE SAENZ: President Biden in this new video this morning, making clear that he wants to debate Trump twice, even as the KPD has scheduled three debates to occur in the fall.
SARA SIDNER: All right, Arlette Saenz, thank you. Jeff Zeleny. I gasped when I saw the attack that that Biden just made!
Saying, “I heard you’re free on Wednesdays” to former President Donald Trump, who is off of court on Wednesdays.
What do you make of this? And what might this mean? Because they’re on the one hand, they’re saying, yes, we want to do two debates, but we don’t want to do what is already potentially in place.
JEFF ZELENY: Well, Sarah, you picked up on the shade there that President Biden was throwing to, his rival. But let’s translate that a little bit.
What this means is, as Arlette was just explaining, this is very significant. It means that, one central question that’s been hanging over this rematch, are there going to be debates? And President Biden now firmly saying, yes, he will agree to a two debates in June and early September.
… The debate over debates is just beginning, but it looks like we likely will have debates in this presidential campaign. Sarah.
SARA SIDNER: I think we’re going expect a response in 3, 2, 1 from Donald Trump on social media at least.
It wasn’t long before Trump responded in a social media post.
