Kara Swisher Laughs Out Loud At Trump’s $9B Truth Social in Mediaite Interview: ‘My Podcast Makes Much More!’

Tech journo and CNN contributor Kara Swisher told Mediaite she was “shocked” by how little revenue Truth Social takes in as she mocked former President Donald Trump’s platform and its $9 billion valuation.

Swisher was a guest on this week’s edition of Mediaite’s new Press Club podcast, hosted by Aidan McLaughlin. McLaughlin jokingly asked her about Trump’s “promising startup” that launched on the NASDAQ with a bang this week:

AIDAN MCLAUGHLIN: I want to ask you about an innovative tech entrepreneur who has this really promising startup. It’s called Truth Social. It has about $3 million in annual revenue and it’s valued at $9 billion.

KARA SWISHER: [Laughs]. My podcast makes much more than that.

AIDAN MCLAUGHLIN: But is your podcast valued at $9 billion?

KARA SWISHER: No, it is not. But I certainly make more revenue, and I make profits, compared to Truth. Literally, Pivot makes 2 or 3 times as much in revenue.

AIDAN MCLAUGHLIN: Can you explain what’s going on with Truth Social? And is there any chance that Trump actually makes money from this?

KARA SWISHER: There’s nothing. It’s a scam. It’s not a business. There’s no business here. There’s zero business. It doesn’t have any advertising business. It doesn’t have any revenue prospects. It has costs, I assume. And it’s just a way to funnel money to Donald Trump. It’s a scam. It’s a meme stock.

And so people will buy it either to funnel money to him because he might be president, or it’s just a game that people are playing like GameStop. GameStop wasn’t worth what it was worth it. Anything’s worth what people decide to pay for it, so I guess it’s worth that. That’s what people are paying for it. It’s not worth that, but people are paying for it. And so there’s no prospect of this making money.

Why are we even bothering to pretend. It’s just a Ponzi scheme. All these MAGA people, they’re just buying it. From an economic underpinnings point of view, there’s zero. It loses $49 million. It earns only $3 million. I was shocked that it was just $3 [million].
