‘He Is a Normal, Average American’: Fox News Host Fawns Over Trump Speech Fail
Fox’s Outnumbered co-hosts had nothing but praise for former President Donald Trump after his prompter failed during his Las Vegas rally, saying that it proved Trump was “a normal, average American.”
Everyone on the panel fawned over Trump’s performance at Sunday’s rally, celebrating his off-the-cuff comments that included a rant about electrocution and sharks, referring to insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol as “warriors” who were “set up” by law enforcement, and his apathy for the well-being of potential voters wilting in the extreme heat.
Co-host Emily Compagno had the most awestruck words for Trump, saying it made the ex-president look like a “totally real, normal American,” adding “I think [he] actually handled it with aplomb.”
Trump lashed out at the crew who set up his prompter at the rally on Sunday and threatened to not pay them.
After a segment about other media responses to Trump’s wild speech that took some time to mock President Joe Biden’s own prompter flubs, Compagno said:
Bottom line, that moment by Trump, as you said, I love this, and it showed us who he is. He’s a normal, average American. He did great without the teleprompter! And what we saw play out, that was state TV, right? That’s everyone getting in line and making sure, “Nothing to see here. Guys, you didn’t see anything. Biden’s the best.“
Compagno ended the segment by saying: “I don’t sound half as good as Trump does without a teleprompter!”
