Fox Host Argues Biden’s Debate Offer Is Actually a ‘Ploy’ to Avoid Trump: ‘I Don’t Think These Debates Happen’
Outnumbered co-host Dagen McDowell claimed that President Joe Biden’s offer to debate Donald Trump is actually a ploy to avoid the former president.
On Wednesday, Biden and Trump agreed to participate in two debates for the coming months with one on CNN in June and ABC News in September. The announcement came after Biden offered to debate Trump under certain criteria, including no audience and microphones being muted while another candidate speaks.
The Biden campaign has committed to two debates; however, Trump’s camp is pushing for an additional debate before the November election. Current polling shows a tight race between the two candidates in multiple swing states.
McDowell claimed during a panel discussion on Wednesday that the criteria Biden outlined for the debate is designed to “tank” the event.
So I’m going to pull on my deplorable hayseed hick hillbilly overalls, because this feels to me like a ploy by Biden and company to avoid actually debating. So you eliminate the commission, you negotiate directly with President Trump’s people. So how’s that going to go? Biden and company will throw sand in the gears and claim that Trump and his team won’t make a deal by making all of these demands, and then some, because there’s not going to be any objective third party to come out and tell the truth about what the real demands are. So they will make demands potentially and then Biden maybe tank this on purpose. I don’t think these debates happen, by design. That is just what my gut says.
