Hannity and Carville Clash in Tense Exchange: ‘Fact-Check me!’

Fox News host Sean Hannity and veteran Democratic Party strategist James Carville sparred over the record of Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, and other hot topics during the second part of an interview that aired on Friday.

On his eponymous show, Hannity challenged Carville on Harris’s record on immigration. He noted numerous Americans had been killed by people who had crossed into the country under the Biden-Harris administration.

Carville retorted that during that same period, legally purchased firearms had been used by Americans to other Americans, including children. He also begged to be fact-checked three separate times.

“We have never had illegal immigration at this level and I believe it’s a clear and present danger for you, for your family, for your children,” Hannity said while naming some Americans who had been killed by migrant crime in recent years.

“You love your children,” the host added. Carville replied that while the border was an issue, so too were mass shootings. The two also sparred in a tense exchange about a bipartisan bill that died in the Senate earlier this year after it was opposed by former President Donald Trump.

The exchange continued:

CARVILLE: I would have great difficulty – as anyone would have – great difficulty, telling the parents in Uvalde how your children were slaughtered with a legal weapon that no one has any need to have. I would say the same thing to the people in Buffalo–

[CROSSTALK]

HANNITY: You are changing the topic. They would be alive if we– if we secured the border.

CARVILLE: If you – The border had nothing to do with it Uvalde.

HANNITY: They entered the country–

[CROSSTALK]

CARVILLE: The border had nothing to do with it. Again, the border had nothing to do with this. Please fact-check me. Please fact-check me! The border had nothing to do with these mass shootings with these AR-15s. We all have difficult questions that we have to ask. Anybody can say that. We can sit in the peanut gallery and throw peanuts. And I do think that we can have – I think border crossings right now are about the same as they were when President Biden took office. Was there, I think ineffective border policy at one time? Yes. Because they did what I said. You showed me saying it at the beginning of the show. When you listen to the “identity, progressive left-wingers,” it always leads to bad policy. But right now, when you look at Senator Lankford and Senator Murphy’s plan, that was negotiated and Donald Trump killed it. That’s a fact. Y’all can fact-check me.

[CROSSTALK]

CARVILLE: Donald Trump killed the plan. That plan to be clear, would not have been implemented unless a few million people crossed the border on any given day it would be discretionary. That’s not a border security plan.

To end the discussion, Hannity pressed Carville to name one Harris accomplishment that warranted a seat for her in the Oval Office and asked, “Is America better off than it was four years ago?”

Carville replied, “Let me say this, it is better off than it was four years ago.”
