Harris Campaign Mocks Musk’s Twitter Space Tech Glitches — On Trump’s Truth Social

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign wasted no time in ridiculing the glitch-filled beginning to a Twitter Space with her opponent, former President Donald Trump, and Elon Musk — bringing the mockery to Trump’s own platform, Truth Social.

The chat between Musk and the ex-president got off to a late start, as many users were initially unable to tune in for over half an hour after the Space was supposed to open. Musk claimed the problem was a “massive DDOS attack,” and the interview finally got started around 8:45 pm ET.

When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had launched his presidential campaign on a Twitter Space, there were similar technical problems, and Trump unsurprisingly pounced.

“Wow!” he wrote on his Truth Social account the evening of May 24, 2023. “The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER! His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!”

Trump’s campaign issued a statement mocking DeSantis along similar lines, as well as posting memes and videos like the one below, making DeSantis’ logo resemble the one used by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

The Harris campaign used its own Truth Social account to throw these words back at Trump, “retruthing” — the Truth Social term for retweeting or sharing — his May 24, 2023 post.

White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates offered a succinct comment on the debacle, retweeting a Team Trump post attacking DeSantis with a simple “Well done.”
