Chris Cuomo Suggests to RFK Jr. He Should Replace ‘Free Fall’ Biden After Debate: ‘Democrats Are Looking for Somebody’
NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo suggested to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. he may be a suitable replacement for President Joe Biden following CNN’s presidential debate.
Cuomo called Biden and Donald Trump embarrassments to the country following their debate performance on Thursday night and not long after he was floating the possibility of replacing Biden with Kennedy, who is running an independent presidential campaign.
“I’m just throwing it out there because it would really save — it would really solve their problem and yours at the same time,” Cuomo told Kennedy.
Kennedy, who did not meet the debate requirements, argued he is the “only Democrat” who could defeat Donald Trump.
Cuomo called Biden a “free fall” candidate and argued Democrats are in “scramble mode” after Thursday’s debate. Kennedy Jr. did not meet the requirements to make the debate stage, but responded to questions from the moderators anyway.
“The Democrats are looking for somebody. I don’t know why it wouldn’t be worth the energy for you to make yourself an option?” he said.
Kennedy Jr. declared he’d be open to replacing Biden if the longshot possibility became a reality.
“Of course, I would talk to them,” he said. “It would put me on the ballot with nobody trying to get me off.”
