‘How Tall Are You, Governor?’ Podcast Host Challenges DeSantis to Wear Normal Shoes to Prove He’s Not Lying About Height

Podcaster Patrick Bet-David issued a unique challenge to Republican presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday.

He wanted the governor to wear a pair of Ferragamo shoes.

Speaking with DeSantis on the PBD Podcast, Bet-David noted a theory going around the internet suggesting that the governor wears heels inside his boots to make him appear taller. The rumor, which centers on an appearance by DeSantis on Real Time with Bill Maher, eventually made it to the Truth Social timeline of former President Donald Trump, whom DeSantis trails in the Republican primary by a wide margin.

Bet-David asked DeSantis about it before placing a shoebox on the table containing Ferragamos.

BET-DAVID: I’ve seen you walk with these boots. Go on and play this clip. This on TikTok went viral. It doesn’t have a million views. It doesn’t have, you know, 10 million views. This thing’s got 1.2 million likes. And some people are wondering–

DESANTIS: How do they– I haven’t seen that.

BET-DAVID: They’ve not shown this to you, ok. What they’re trying to say with this, is that in your boots, you have heels.

DESANTIS: No, no, those are just standard off-the-rack, Lucchese–

BET-DAVID: How tall are you, Governor? How tall are you?

DESANTIS: Five-eleven.

BET-DAVID: Five-eleven? Ok. Why don’t you wear tennis shoes and dress shoes?

DESANTIS: I do wear tennis shoes when I work out.

BET-DAVID: Ok, I’ve got a gift for you. I’d love for you to wear– ok I shop at Ferragamo, ok. And–

DESANTIS: I don’t accept gifts. I can’t accept that.

BET-DAVID I totally get it.

DESANTIS: I’m sorry.
