Daily Wire Host Says ‘Unity Is Not Possible’ After Trump Shooting, Spins Conspiracy Theory About Shooter

Daily Wire host Matt Walsh declared on Monday, that in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, “unity is not possible.”
Trump himself called for unity and told media outlets that he was rewriting his RNC acceptance speech to try and unite the country following the near-fatal shooting. Walsh, however, had another take, writing on X, “There are calls for unity, but unity is not possible. The forces that at a minimum set the stage for Trump’s assassination — the same ones that have been trying to destroy him, and you, for years — are still at work. The only unity is in their defeat. The only way out is through.”

Walsh, who hosts a show on the Daily Wire, also went on to spin a conspiracy theory regarding the shooter. Walsh, without citing any evidence, cast doubt on the official information coming out about the shooter and fumed to his nearly 3 million followers that “you must believe this and ask no questions about it or else you are a conspiracy theorist.”
Walsh wrote, “Here’s the official story so far: a random 20 year old acting completely alone walked within 150 yards of a presidential campaign rally with a rifle, climbed onto a rooftop in full view of Secret Service snipers, set up his shot and fired without anyone intervening and with no help from anyone. This 20 year old is also so politically radical as to attempt an assassination and yet not radical enough to have ever posted any political writings or commentary on any social media site ever in his life.”
“He also wrote no manifesto and left behind no indication about why he did it. His last and only political act, before attempting to kill the Republican candidate, was to register as a Republican. You must believe this and ask no questions about it or else you are a conspiracy theorist. And one thing we know about assassination attempts is that there’s never any conspiring involved,” declared the host who is best known for his anti-LGBTQ advocacy.
Notably, federal authorities still have not determined the shooter’s motivations as the investigation continues, but have said they believe he acted alone.
Other hard-right figures like Candace Owens, who recently embarked on some scandal-inducing Holocaust revisionism, and Mike Cernovich shared Walsh’s post and baselessly spread Walsh’s message that some kind of cover-up or wider conspiracy was at play during the shooting.
Cool it with the conspiracy theories. Our trusted intelligence agencies will tell you when and what to think.
The time for thinking is not now.
Or ever. https://t.co/2ZL6KIJmLY— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) July 15, 2024
The FBI mopped it up, which is why I immediately called for a parallel investigation.
Not one Congressional Republican thought to demand this.
People still living in a state of delusion. https://t.co/qDk5AlKWPr
