Oprah Fires Up DNC Crowd by Taking Aim at Vance – Years After Helping Vault Him into the Spotlight
CNN and MSNBC have dominated the ratings with their coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago while Fox News, cable’s perennially dominant network, has struggled to compete during key speeches through Wednesday.
MSNBC has placed first in total viewers every night of the convention, according to numbers from Nielsen. CNN won in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 demographic the first two nights, while MSNBC took the win on night three of the convention in Chicago.
During the keynote speeches on night three of the convention Wednesday, MSNBC averaged a sizable 5.1 million total viewers. CNN attracted 3.2 million viewers, while Fox News placed last with just 1.8 million viewers.
In the demo on Wednesday, CNN and MSNBC were neck and neck with 829,000 and 879,000, respectively, while Fox News drew 299,000 viewers.
CNN in particular is recording its strongest ratings week in more than two years – since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Still, Fox
The DNC drew in 20 million viewers on Monday and 20.8 million on Tuesday across all networks, both broadcast and cable. During remarks by former President Barack Obama, the numbers peaked at 21.6 million, according to Variety.
