‘They Tried to Even Kill Him!’ Fox’s Maria Bartiromo Suggests Democrats Attempted to Assassinate Trump in Jaw-Dropping Rant

Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo listed off a series of unfounded claims that the Biden-Harris administration was targeting former President Donald Trump on the Wednesday episode of Mornings with Maria — including suggesting the White House tried to assassinate him.

The July 13 shooting at Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania left one rallygoer dead, two wounded, and the ex-president injured on his ear. The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by Secret Service snipers. Crooks left behind little evidence about his political views, other than a one-time $15 donation to a Democratic-leaning voter registration group when he was 17 and then unsubscribing from their email list about a year later. He registered to vote as a Republican when he turned 18 and voted only once, in the 2022 midterm elections.

Authorities are still investigating the assassination attempt, along with a bipartisan Congressional task force, but thus far there has been zero information reported that connects Crooks to the Democratic Party, much less the White House, President Joe Biden, or Trump’s opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. One fact that is known is that Crooks had conducted online searches for public appearances by both Trump and Biden, finding the Trump rally that would take place in Butler, about 50 miles away from Crooks’ home.

Bartiromo made her accusations during a panel discussion about the superseding indictment filed by Special Counsel Jack Smith against Trump for his alleged efforts to interfere in the 2020 election. In this new indictment, Smith brought the same four charges he had brought before, but now tailored to reflect the Supreme Court’s ruling in Trump v. United States on the issue of presidential immunity.

Trump had responded to the new indictment in a series of lengthy posts on his Truth Social account that repeated some of his common complaints about “lawfare” and “witch hunts,” accusing Harris of engineering an attempt to “INTERFERE WITH THE ELECTION” in “an unprecedented abuse of the Criminal Justice System.”

Bartiromo adopted a similar tone as the former president during her commentary on her Fox Business show.

“We’ve got lawfare now to deal with — Special Counsel Jack Smith indicting former President Trump again this week in the dropped Jan. 6 case,” she said, noting that Trump was “facing the same four federal offenses” that were included in the previous indictment, but Smith had “removed arguments making allegations against Justice Department officials.”

She then read from one of Trump’s Truth Social posts, that “the indictment has all the problems of the old Indictment, and should be dismissed IMMEDIATELY,” and asked Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, about “what can you do in your role in Judiciary to stop all of this lawfare going on?”

“Everyone knows what this is about, and knows this case is not going to be tried any time soon, so why come out with it 19 days before early voting begins?” she asked.

“Yeah, that is correct,” replied Tiffany, repeatedly using the words “they” and “their” to refer to the current Democratic White House administration:

So they continue to hurl everything they can at the wall, whether it was the Fulton County Case, the New York City case, this Jack Smith case. And this is their last hurrah in trying to use lawfare to derail President Trump’s candidacy leading up into November.

And I think that’s the key message that we need to deliver to the American people, that they are trying to deny someone their ability to run for president without interference by the party that is in power at this point.

We just need to expose it to the American people. And I can tell you, the Judiciary Committee’s going to continue to put out subpoenas to get information to expose this to American people, because most American people, I think, have begun to figure this out.

“They tried to imprison him, they tried to take him down, they tried to even kill him, they tried to bankrupt him, and they’re still trying,” said Bartiromo.

“And they tried to take him off the ballot,” said Washington Examiner political reporter Tiana Lowe Doescher. “I mean, that is literally disenfranchising half the voters that wanted him.”

Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), previously made comments using some of the exact same words as Bartiromo used to accuse Democrats of being complicit in the assassination attempt:

They couldn’t beat him politically, so they tried to bankrupt him. They failed at that, so they tried to impeach him. They failed at that, so they tried to put him in prison. And they even tried to kill him. But as sure, as sure as the American flag still waves in our beautiful sky, Donald Trump still stands ready to fight, ready to win, and ready to make America great again.
