‘Paranormal Possum?!’ CNN’s Entire Coverage Team Wheezes With Laughter At Bizarre Turn In Trump-Stormy Daniels Cross
CNN co-anchors and analysts lost it laughing over a bizarre turn in the cross-examination of Stormy Daniels that involved “paranormal activity” and a team of “ghost hunters.”
The defense cross-examination resumed Thursday at former President Donald Trump’s hush money-election interference trial with questioning by Trump attorney Susan Necheles that many observers saw as attuned for Trump’s benefit.
On Thursday’s edition of CNN’s branded coverage of the trial, co-anchor Anderson Cooper and Kaitlan Collins and chief legal analyst Paula Reid cracked up following along with questioning about paranormal entertainment that Daniels was involved in.
The hilarity carried over when they tossed to Jim Acosta in the studio:
ANDERSON COOPER: Necheles. Necheles asked ff Daniels’s claim, she can speak for dead people in that her house in New Orleans is haunted. I believe Stormy Daniels was involved with some sort of paranormal show at some point.
PAULA REID: You have actually reached the limits of my knowledge of this case. I am not familiar with her paranormal. I really don’t remember the first question I cannot answer. And this.
ANDERSON COOPER: I read. I read an account yesterday. You mentioned she had done something with.
PAULA REID: It sounds on brand.
ANDERSON COOPER: Paranormal activity.
PAULA REID: I have no reporting–
ANDERSON COOPER: Having they brought in experts, which is yes, they brought it.
KAITLAN COLLINS: I mean, they’re basically trying–
ANDERSON COOPER: Collectively we we are now I mean, literally we are now in the toilet in the realm of paranormal activity. “.
It was a lot of interesting and unexplained activity. A lot of the activity was completely debunked as a giant possum, she says, with a laugh.”.
She I mean, it’s interesting. Again, I’m fascinated to hear from our people inside what her demeanor is. And if the jury is laughing along with her or smirking, or if they are sort of in on this, that’s going to be very interesting to see.
PAULA REID: We asked. I’m looking at our feed to see if we have any, any color from how the jury is responding, because how you can not laugh at the, you know, the paranormal possum?! I’m not sure.
But the jury also might be annoyed because they might recognize that this is nothing to do with the case.
ANDERSON COOPER: “I’ve been making money as a part of a ghost hunting team that would go into locations,” Daniel says. So that clarifies things. She’s part of a ghost hunting team.
Again, this is taken a turn that I mean, I don’t know if the defense thinks this is powerful testimony or–.
KAITLAN COLLINS: I don’t understand how it–.
ANDERSON COOPER: Scoring points?
KAITLAN COLLINS: It’s not clear how it goes to the heart of what they are actually trying to argue here, though. I mean, this is where the defense seems to be.
ANDERSON COOPER: If there are some parts of, strong paranormal activity believers on the jury, perhaps they will be more sympathetic to her, I don’t know.
KAITLAN COLLINS: Yeah, that didn’t come across in jury selection–
ANDERSON COOPER: Is this guy your boyfriend? Question your sanity necklace asked. The objection was sustained. You know what? I think this is a good time to go back to DC. Jim Acosta. Jim.
JIM ACOSTA: Gee, gee, thanks, Anderson. We’re watching CNN or QVC. That’s the question that I have all right now. I mean,.
(uproarious laughter).
There were, comments about candles and paranormal, ghost hunting shows and so on. I feel like we’re losing the narrative here.
LAURA COATES: I think they may have lost the jury.
