MAGA Actor Jon Voight Says How He Really Feels About Angelina Jolie’s Politics: ‘I Don’t Want to Fight with My Daughter, But…’

Actor and vocal Donald Trump supporter Jon Voight targeted his daughter Angelina Jolie over her stance on the Israel-Hamas war multiple times in a new interview.

Variety’s Stephen Rodrick noted in an extensive write-up of recent conversations with Voight that the conversation circled to his daughter and her politics multiple times. Voight is a staunch supporter of Israel, while Jolie criticized the country for the treatment of Palestinians inside of Gaza. Israel was destroyed much of Gaza through strikes meant to eliminate the terror group Hamas for an Oct. 7 attack in which more than 1,000 were killed.

“She has been exposed to propaganda,” Voight said of his daughter. “She’s been influenced by antisemitic people. Angie has a connection to the [United Nations], and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.”

Weeks into the Israel-Hamas conflict, Jolie took to Instagram and accused Israel of “the deliberate bombing of a trapped population who have nowhere to flee.” She said Gaza had been an “open air prison” for decades. Voight publicly pushed back on his daughter at the time.

“Angie, I think she hasn’t been available to this information because in Hollywood people don’t share this kind of stuff,” Voight told Rodrick. “They’re way off. They have no idea what’s going on. It’s a bubble.”

When Rodrick pushed back on Jolie not having access to the same information (she has worked as a special envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), Voight accused Jolie of being “influenced” by the United Nations.

“I love my daughter. I don’t want to fight with my daughter,” he says heatedly. “But the fact is, I think she has been influenced by the U.N. From the beginning, it’s been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it’s just anti-Israel bashing.”

Voight, who has arguably become as well known to some for his pro-Trump commentary as his acting, claimed his daughter is “ignorant” of the stakes in Israel.

“She’s ignorant of what the real stakes are and what the real story is because she’s in the loop of the United Nations,” he said.

The actor, who next appears in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, also offered praise for his daughter, calling her “amazing” after the two recently produced a stage production of The Outsiders.

“I am happy when Angie is happy,” an emotional Voight said at one point about his daughter. “When she’s having a tough time, I’m having a tough time. When she is down, I’m down.”

Voight described himself as one of the “most outspoken” supporters of Trump in Hollywood — he was awarded the National Medal of the Arts by Trump in 2019 — and said after the attempted assassination of the former president that perhaps people will begin to see both of them differently.

“Now, after this, maybe they will look at Jon Voight in a different way. If Donald Trump is being revealed in this way, maybe they will see a supporter like me in a different light,” he said.
