JD Vance Acknowledges ‘Some Haters’ As He’s Booed at Firefighters Union Conference
Vice presidential candidate JD Vance made note of the “haters” who booed him when he gave a speech at a firefighters conference.
Vance on Thursday spoke at the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) conference. It was the same event his Democratic opponent Tim Walz spoke at the day before.
For the Ohio senator, however, his speech got off to a rough start when he received some very audible boos as soon as he approached the microphone. At least one person could be heard yelling, “Semper Fi,” the motto of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Vance took the jeers in stride while beginning his speech.
“Semper Fi, guys,” Vance said. “Sounds like we got some fans and some haters. That’s OK. At least listen to what I have to say here and I’ll make my pitch. I wanna first say, ‘Thank you,’ to [Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez] for the great introduction. It was very kind of you. Thank you for your service to our country. The only career firefighter in the United States Congress, so thrilled to have you on our side and thrilled to have you fighting for America’s firefighters. Let’s give it up for Representative Gimenez.”
Later on in the speech, Vance appeared to get booed again after claiming he and former President Donald Trump were “the most pro-worker Republican ticket in history.”
