Last week, I wrote a column about how Donald Trump’s presidential campaign was falling apart.
To briefly sum up my argument: Yes, Vice President Kamala Harris is benefitting from a prolonged honeymoon as the newly-minted Democratic nominee and fawning media coverage that comes with that title. And no, she hasn’t already sewn up the election — far from it, actually. But both the former president and his team are adrift, and their lack of discipline, focus, and strategic thinking could prevent him from retaking the Oval Office.
Honorable men admit when they’re wrong, though. So here I am to acknowledge that Team Trump has its best minds working on how to turn the ship around.
Its very best mind, of course, belongs to its principal. Just when I though he’d lost his touch, he let this brilliant new broadside fly on Truth Social:
What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the history of the U.S., whose Presidency was Unconstitutionally STOLEN from him by Kamabla, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left, CRASHES the Democrat National Convention and tries to take back the Nomination, beginning with challenging me to another DEBATE. He feels that he made a historically tragic mistake by handing over the U.S. Presidency, a COUP, to the people in the World he most hates, and he wants it back, NOW!!!
It was punchy, it was concise, and it nailed Harris on the issues that matter most to the American people, like reminding them of Obama’s middle name and misspelling Harris’s name. How could I have doubted him, even for a second?
Speaking of “Kamabla,” campaign spokesman Steven Cheung has been doing yeomen’s work getting this absolutely critical message out there.

And while I derided Trump for making Senator JD Vance (R-OH) his running mate, he continues to prove his worth to both the ticket and the GOP more generally. Consider this sweet headline in The Washington Post today: “JD Vance in texts with far-right figure: Profane and off-the-cuff.”
Turns out Vance has devoted a decent amount of the last few years chatting up a Holocaust-denying conspiracy theorist. Truly, the junior Senator from Ohio is the gift that keeps on giving.
All of this is to say: All is well in Trump World, and even if the polls are headed in the wrong direction, they have a crack team of political geniuses on the case and pushing all the right buttons.
