Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will have their first interview since launching their campaign this Thursday with CNN’s chief political correspondent and anchor Dana Bash.

The news of the interview broke shortly after 5 pm ET Tuesday. From the report on CNN.com:

The interview, conducted by CNN’s chief political correspondent and anchor Dana Bash, will air at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday. It occurs as the candidates embark on a bus tour through the battleground state of Georgia and marks the first time Harris has sat with a journalist for an in-depth, on-the-record conversation since President Joe Biden dropped his bid for a second term and endorsed her on July 21.

Harris had faced criticism for not sitting down for a one-on-one interview since President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race after a disastrous performance at a debate that Bash co-moderated along with Jake Tapper. In the 30-plus days since Harris took over the campaign, she has chatted off-the-record with the pool reporters traveling with the campaign, answered occasional questions from reporters (often when getting on or off Air Force Two), and also had several short interviews with content creators and influencers at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last week.

Alex Marquardt, guest anchoring for Wolf Blitzer on The Situation Room, reported the news Tuesday afternoon, noting that the interview would come just two weeks before Harris is scheduled to debate her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump September 10 on ABC News.

An email from CNN Communications announced that the interview would be held in “the crucial battleground state of Georgia,” and will first air on Thursday, August 29, at 9 pm ET on CNN, CNN International, CNN en Español, CNN Max, CNN.com, and on the CNN apps.
