Swifties For Kamala Head Tells CNN ‘We Have No Doubt’ Taylor Swift Will Endorse VP ‘When Time Is Right’

Swifties for Kamala founder Irene Kim told CNN that her group has “no doubt” pop superstar Taylor Swift will endorse Vice President Kamala Harris “when the time is right.”

Swift has had a strange role in politics this season, with a strange conspiracy about rigging the Super Bowl and former President Donald Trump making some bizarre remarks about Swift and her politics.

More recently, speculation abounded about an endorsement during the Democratic National Convention (DNC), and the Swiftie group — not officially affiliated with Taylor Swift — took in six figures for Harris.

On Friday morning’s edition of CNN News Central, anchors John Berman and Rahel Solomon asked Kim how important it is for fans that Swift endorse Harris. Kim said it’s not a matter of if but when:

RAHEL SOLOMON: So this is not necessarily affiliated with Taylor Swift. So how did this idea even come about?

IRENE KIM: Yeah, we are absolutely not affiliated with Taylor Swift. It all started with my co-founder Emerald Medrano. Literally just tweeted the night Biden stepped down, and said he felt like Swifties should do something for Kamala Harris, I agreed. Lots of other Swifties agreed, and the next thing you know, we had a Twitter group chat, quickly moved over to Discord, and now we kind of have a fully functioning volunteer organization.

JOHN BERMAN: I was in Chicago. Was it just last week for the, for the Democratic convention? And there was this massive sort of rumors swirling Thursday night, one that there was Beyonce, too, that it was Taylor Swift, one Beyonce with Taylor Swift. She wasn’t there.

How important is it for you, self-described Swifties that Taylor Swift actively endorses in this campaign?

IRENE KIM: I mean, she’s previously endorsed Kamala Harris during the last election when she was running as VP, so we have no doubt she will endorse her when the time is right.

I think we’ve seen with the Vienna Statement recently, Taylor will speak when the time is right for her, and there’s a lot of moving pieces we might not know about.

So to us, it’s more important to just to mobilize our community, because we’ve seen firsthand how quickly we can rally around each other and get support together.
